Quilters Weekend & Quilting Bee - April 11-13, 2019 - Watoga State Park:
Enjoy a weekend with fellow quilters of all experience levels as you participate in lessons and a quilting bee. This three day retreat will give you a chance to learn lessons and seek advice from highly skilled quilters. Space is limited for this retreat, so please call ahead. Wild Edibles Festival - May 3-4, 2019 - Watoga State Park:
Head out to grab a taste of the wild at the 2019 Wild Edibles Festival! The event begins Friday, May 3rd with a hike around Watoga Lake at 3 p.m., followed by a presentation by Key Note speaker, Georganne Derick at 7 p.m. Saturday festivities will occur at the picnic shelter area with various vendors, demonstrations, live music, opportunities to hike and more! 

Pearl S. Buck Writing Workshops - June 17 & August 17, 2019  Pearl S. Buck Birthplace:
Head out to Pearl S. Buck Birthplace in Hillsboro, WV to unleash your inner creative writer! These interactive and immersive workshops allow you to work with writers and authors to craft compelling creative stories. Hammons Family Musical Heritage Celebration - September 28, 2019 - Pocahontas County Opera House: 
Join the Hammons and other local musicians as they celebrate the family that helped jump start the Appalachian Mountain music movement  here in Pocahontas County that has been passed down through generations! 
Takes place after the 2019 WV RoadKill Cook-off in the Pocahontas County Opera House! 

Bushcraft & Survival Skills Weekend - April 25-27, 2019 - Yew Mountain Center: 
Learn fire building skills, foraging techniques, how to gather wild food and what it takes to have mountain made herbal medicine on hand. Put your survival skills to the test and learn new ways to excel in the wilderness.

Birding Weekend - May 17-19, 2019 - Yew Mountain Center: 
Learn about the magnificent birds of Wild, Wonderful West Virginia by attending Birdsong Weekend at Yew Mountain Center. This three-day workshop will introduce you to Casey Rucker, bird expert who has spent many years studying the birds of West Virginia. You'll learn about population facts, breeding patterns and so much more!

Forest Herbs - July 6-8, 2019 - Yew Mountain Center:
Get in the forest, roll up your sleeves, and learn about the great plants and herbs that grow here in the mountains of Pocahontas County, WV and their medicinal benefits. Participate in a forest farming project, make tinctures, and learn how these plants can aid in your overall health and wellness.
